Traditional liposuction is a technique that works by extracting excess fat accumulated in areas such as the abdomen, buttocks, arms, back, waist and even the face through a cannula.
Today, laser liposuction or lipolaser is a cosmetic surgery treatment that improves the results of traditional liposuction. We use Lipolife™, which in addition to the above advantages, maintains the viability of the cell, so it is not damaged and can be used for transplantation.
In Antiaging Group Barcelona, we carry out the liposculpture technique using a new radial laser, Lipolife™, specially designed to eliminate fat, but also to preserve it and use it for transplant in breast or buttock augmentation. This laser fiber goes inside a liposuction cannula but, unlike the traditional technique, the lipolaser does not injure the adipose cell, but impacts the interstitial water releasing the cells without destroying them, while the laser temperature favors the formation of collagen and the retraction of the skin.
In addition, another great advantage of Lipolife™ over other lipolaser systems is that this is a more comfortable and safer technique, and it is less traumatic for the patient, as bleeding is considerably less during the procedure, as well as the consequent bruising, so that the recovery period is shorter.
It must be taken into account that liposculpture, although it allows the extraction of localized and excess fatty tissues from the different areas of the body that need it, it is a cosmetic surgery procedure.
There are areas where lipolaser gives excellent results, such as the subgluteal banana, fibrous areas (back, gynecomastia) and especially in the neck.
Prior properatory study will determine the areas to be treated according to the patient’s needs. The operation lasts between 2 and 3 hours, and the type of anesthesia depends on the number of areas to treat. During the liposculpture, the plastic surgeon will make small incisions with the liposuction cannula, whose fiber will transmit the light of the Lipolife™ to aspirate a greater amount of fat with less risk of bleeding.
On the other hand, the adipose tissue obtained can later be used as a graft by means of the lipofilling technique, which consists of remodeling areas of the body with a deficit of adipose tissue. That is to say, body areas with fat accumulation would act as donors and reduce their volume, while other recipient areas (such as breasts or buttocks) would gain it.
In short, Lipolife™ laser-assisted liposculpture is an effective treatment to eliminate fat accumulations (especially in areas that resist exercise or diet), homogenize the body contour, and even provide volume in other areas.
Immediately after surgery, a compression garment will be placed to improve skin retraction and results. It is recommended to undergo lymphatic drainage during the first month and you can start sports and physical activity right away, usually within a week. It is important to avoid sun exposure, so it is advisable to talk to the specialist to determine the best time to perform this treatment, depending on your lifestyle habits.

The results obtained through the lipolaser technique are permanent, in the face of weight changes, the gain or loss of volume will be homogeneous, but the body shape obtained after the treatment will be maintained, that is to say, the remodeling of the figure will be maintained.
It must be taken into account that fat is redistributed, that is, it can accumulate in other areas, so although it is an effective treatment to eliminate a considerable amount of fat from localized areas, it is not a slimming treatment.
The liposculpture is a technique that can be performed at any time of the year; nevertheless, it must be taken into account that during the postoperative period it is necessary to avoid sun exposure to prevent what could be a permanent skin pigmentation and that it is necessary to wear a girdle for one or two months. It is therefore recommended to perform it between the months of October and April.
