Implant profiles in breast augmentation

Many of our patients for breast augmentation ask about the profiles of the implants. What is the profile? It is the projection of the implant, which determines how the breast is projected from the chest.

Every implant manufacturer has different profiles, but generally these are low, medium, high (and extra-high at times). Profiles along with volume are the main identifiers of a round implant. In contrast, in an anatomic implant, we won’t just talk about profiles, but also about measures (width and height) so  the name will vary: for example MF or FX where the second latter refers to the projection of the implant, i.e. profile (L, M, F or X in this case).

Is it one given profile better than others? No. The selection is based upon measurements of breast, the volume that we want to achieve, the shape the patient wants. For instance, for a slim girl who wants volume we cannot use a too wide implant and we’d need more projection. Or in some cases of empty and sagging breast, we’d need an anatomic implant with a high profile providing breast with basculation and uplift. Or we might need a wider but lower implant to fill the breast, but without giving it a too round look. This means that the profile is a feature of the implant that allows us to give more or less volume, more or less projection to the breast or even change its shape.

      Gracias por visitar nuestra web. El coste de la cirugía depende de la técnica elegida para solucionarlo (colgajo de dorsal ancho o implantes de pectoral ya conformado o hecho a medida). La media es de unos 6000€.
