Hand and upper limb surgery

The reconstructive surgery of the upper limb and the hand is a chapter apart in the reconstructive surgery for both plastic surgeons and orthopaedic surgeons. It requires very in-depth and special knowledgement of anatomy, function, and vascularization so this field of the surgery has been considered as a subspeciality.

There are a wide array of reconstructive techniques addressed to retrieve the normal function. The microsurgical techniques have a very special application in this zone.

We present herein some cases of our experience with utilization of several local, regional flaps and microsurgery (toe to hand transplantations):
